Role Theory includes the following propositions:

people spend much of their lives participating as members of groups and organizationswithin these groups, people occupy distinct positionseach of these positions entails a role, which is a set of functions performed by the person for the groupgroups often formalize role expectations as norms or even codified rules, which include what rewards will result when roles are successfully performed and what punishments will result when roles are not successfully performedindividuals usually carry out their roles and perform in accordance with prevailing norms; in other words, role theory assumes that people are primarily conformists who try to live up to the norms that accompany their rolesgroup members check each individual's performance to determine whether it conforms with the norms; the anticipation that others will apply sanctions ensures role performance

Concept refer to the idea that will be used in social analysis. Theory  refers to the generalized thinking that has resulted to a certain I idea when coming up with a conclusion. The may importance of a concept is that it helps one to bring up ideas that one has about a certain situation and this ideas one can use them to analyze a certain problems or issue. The importance of the theory is once one brings the generalized thinking together one can be able to come up with a conclusion. CMM
