a. Though democracy is the most popular form of government for it allows for people's participation and grants civil and political rights to them, there are flaws associated with it.
b.Democarcy is all about numbers, it gives more emphasis to the quantity than quality.
c. It all about competition and power amongst political parties, who resort to various methods to come to power and retain power,
d. Such a competition leads to polarisation of a society, may create groups and factions in a society creating disunity.
e. Political parties resort to muscle and money power or also exploit social divisions like caste, religion so as to come to power.
f. It may involve use of malpractices like bogus voting, booth capturing etc.
g. Democracy also delays the decision making process as there are a large number of people involved in decision making process and deliberation, who have to follow cumbersome procedures.
h. Democracy has often been regard as tyranny of the majority which overlooks the interest of the minorities.
i. Democracy also encourages nepotism, favouritism at the cost of common people.
j. Most of the people like in India are illiterate who are generally swayed away by political tactics of parties and are unable to make informed choice.
