Answers
It is true that democracy is the best way to fight for recognition and reconciliation of social diversity. In democracy, political expression of social division id quite normal and healthy. India, Belgium and Yugoslavia are examples where social diversities have been accommodated in a very positive manner. Reservation of seats in the Legislature and government service for the people belonging to Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) offers such an example. Even women have been given reservation in local bodies and efforts are being made to reserve seats for them in Parliament and State Legislature. It is true that people who are discriminated against or marginalised have to fight against the injustice shown to them. Sometimes their struggles even become violent. But generally, they take the democratic path in voicing their demands in a peaceful and constitutional manner through their elected representatives.
Explanation:
Democracies provide for the chance of recognition to all because every citizen in the country is given a chance to participate in his/her governance through elections.
The diverse culture and different unique societies, most especially in nations such as India, can find common ground and be reconciled to one another as democracy provides room for people to find common ground and live harmoniously together.
Through democracies people voice their concerns and participate actively in the government and hence become part and parcel of how they are being ruled.
