Democracy has a long established culture in India with the Armed forces only answerable to elected governments unlike in other neighboring countries.
However, for democracy to work there are three things which are very important:

- Rule of Law, i.e. no one is above the law
- Freedom of Expression, Speech etc.
- Low corruption, high education

In India, many people still complain that politicians have become too complicated to work as a proper democracy.  For example, in many parts of the country, people only vote for their own religion, caste, creed, and do not care which party they are voting for, or their policies.

This has made, local leaders very powerful who are openly asked to join parties to gain votes.

On top of that, most people agree that corruption is rampant in the country and 99% of politicians are surely above the law, unlike the common man.

On top of that, in most polls, India ranks very low on Freedom of Media and in many places, newspapers, tv channels and even internet is blocked (kashimr, manipur)

However, it should be noted that Rome was not built in a day, and that it will take time for India to become a mature democracy. The only way is to keep on moving forward and people using their right to vote

India is the biggest popularity based nation on the planet. There are sure conditions that are fundamental for the achievement of Democracy in India.

Democracy is characterized as an administration of the general population, by the general population and for the general population.

Democracy is viewed as the finest type of government in which each individual takes part deliberately and in which the general population remains the sovereign power deciding their fate. In this way, in a democratic system, the general population are a definitive wellspring of energy and its prosperity and disappointment rely on upon their insight, awareness, and watchfulness.

It is unrealistic for every one of the general population in a major nation like India to take an interest in the legislature. This is the reason they are required to practice their establishment and choose their agents at customary interims. These delegates from the Parliament administer and frame mindful government.

Such governments can be either unitary or elected. In India we have the elected body having both an administration at the inside mindful to the parliament and governments in the states chose and similarly dependable to their authoritative congregations. Yet, the general population who take part in the decision of their delegates must be instructed enough to perceive what is beneficial for them and who will be the correct individuals to represent them.
