For decades, Robert Mugabe ruled Zimbabwe in a ruthless, even recklessmanner. Over nearly 40 years, he turned the “jewel of Africa” into an economic basket case that’s seen inflation of up to 800 percent.

Then, late in the night of Nov. 14, the country’s security services detained and put Zimbabwe’s 93-year-old president under house arrest in what appeared to be a military coup. The whereabouts of his powerful wife, Grace, are unconfirmed.

*Leader of ZANU-PF party- Robert Mugabe
*In Zimbabwe Election held regularly but ZANU-PF party always won the election.
*Since the party won the elections continuously it's leader Mugabe was the president of the country.
*President Mugabe is popular but he uses unfair practiced in the election
*Over year his govt. changed the constitution several times to increase the power of the president and make him less accountable
*Opposition party workers were harassed and their meetings were disrupted
*TV and radio were controlled by the govt. and gave only the ruling party's version
*When the govt. ignored some court judgements that went against it.
*So, From this we can say that the Zimbabwe is not considered to be a democratic country.. Even because of these things Mugabe got support to frame laws according to his sake.
