Dependence of thermal conductivity of solids, liquids and gases on temperature can be generalized as follows.
The Thermal conductivity of gases increases with temperature and this is explained on the basis of kinetic theory of matter. There is random motion of gaseous particles hence thermal conductivity is faster.
The Thermal conductivity of liquids decreases with increase in temperature. This is due to the fact that as liquid expands with increasing temperature molecules move apart hence reducing thermal conductivity.
The Thermal conductivity of Solids thermal conductivity also decreases with increasing temperature. This is due to lattice distortion as temperature increases it makes it difficult for electrons to flow.
