Hello!

Let's try to understand it with a basic example. Imagine yourself being pricked by a pin. You will immediately withdraw your hand, won't you? What happens is the prickling sensation is received by the sensory nerves, which are present below your skin. It then transmits it to the dorsal root ganglion near the spinal cord. From there, a quick response is again carried out in the form of nerve impulse by motor nerves. The motor nerve demands the muscle to act on the spot, resulting in an extreme quick response. Afterwards, the signals go on transmitting to brain.

Hope it helped you

The stimulus is picked up from the environment the receptors in the skin and the transported to the effector muscle to the afferent nerve and the to the spinal chord.
Then from the efferent nerve it is carried back to the effector muscle. This whole path is called the reflex arch.
The signal is also sent to the brain.
