m = mass of an object; u = initial velocity; v = final velocity;

t = time interval; F = constant force

P1 = mu = Initial momentum of the object

P2 = mv = Final momentum of the object

The change in momentum = P2 – P1

                                           = mv – mu

                                           = m (v – u)

The rate of change of momentum = 

The unit of force is so chosen that the value of the constant k becomes one.

So, F = ma
