Consider a body of mass=m with initial velocity=u . Let the force=f acting on the body at time=t sec and t=0 sec .So that velocity at time=t sec is v .
initial momentum of the body , pi = mu
final momentum of the body , pf = mv
change in momentum ,dp(pi-pf)=mv-mu
time taken to change this momentum , dt , t-0 = t
rate of change of momentum = mv-mu/t-0
dp/dt = m(v-u)/t
dp/dt=ma

❤. Newtonś Second Law :

"The rate of change of momentum of a body is directly proportional to the external force acting on the body and it is in the direction ,in which the force acts"
