Consider a current carrying conductor of length L is placed in the magnetic field B. The force on single charge carrier inside the conductor is given by
F = qvB
And force on all charge carriers Q will be,
F = QvB …….. (i)
The time taken by charge carrier q to cross the field will be
t = L/V
V= L/t
Put it in equation (i)
F = Q(L/t)B
F = (Q/t)LB
Since I = Q/t,
F = ILB sin θ
If the angle between L and B is 90 deg then the force will be maximum. And If the angle between L and B is 0 deg then the force will be minimum .
