The acceleration which occurs due to the application of gravitational force is called gravitational acceleration.

Explanation:

Let “M” is the mass of earth and “m” is the mass of object on which gravitational force is present.

Wight of object = W = mg                                        ………. (i)

Gravitational force at height “h” = F = GMm/(r+h)^2  ……… (ii)

By comparing (i) and (ii) we get,

g = GM/(r+h)^2

which is the gravitational acceleration at height “h”.
