Given: To drive expression for the pressure exerted by liquid column

Explanation:

The pressure exerted by a column of liquid of a height (h) and density (ρ) is given by the hydrostatic pressure equation

p = ρgh, where g represents the gravitational acceleration.

Pressure = force/Area

Then,

            Force = ma                        (1)

            Density = M/V

                  P = M/V

                  M =ρV                           (2)

 and V = Area × h                           (3)

 from (1) ,(2) and (3)

   P = (m × acceleration)/area

   P =  (m × g)/area

   P =  (ρ × v × g)/ area

   P = (ρ × area × h ×g0/area

Hence              p = ρgh
