When two resistors are connected in parallel then current flowing through these resistors is different .So,
I = I1+I2 (I= total current)
V/R = V/R1+V/R2 ( Voltage flowing through two different resistors connected in parallel is same) (since V= IR so I= V/R)
V/R = V ( (1/R1) / (1/R2) )
1/R = 1/R1 + 1/R2
Hence, derived.
