Angular momentum L= r×p

L=r×mv

L=m(r×v)

multiply and divide by r²

L=mr²(r×v)/r²

as mr²=I (moment of inertia) and (r×v)/r² =ω (angular velocity)

so L=Iω

Moment of inertia is a measure of inertia of the body when the body is rotating about an axis.

It is found by summation of mass * square of radius of gyration for all particles in the object.

Moment of inertia plays a part ,similar to mass in linear kinetics, in rotaional dynamics.
