we know that

k=f×s

let,

initial velocity=v

final velocity =0

on using equation of third law of motion

ie. v²=u²+2as (retardation)

on substitution of final and initial velocity

0=v²-2as on transposing

s=v²/2a

k=f×s

k=ma×v²/2a (on substituting values and transposing)

k=1/2m×v²
