Answer:
Derry is a teen-aged boy with a pessimistic and cynical attitude towards life. His face has been disfigured by acid and that is the reason why he avoids the company of others because he thinks of himself as a monster. He believesthat no one loves him and even his mother loves him because she is biologically programmed to do so. Derry hascome to the conclusion that since his physicality causes repulsion in others, the world would never take to him and so he develops this attitude of pessimism. He stays away from others and immersed himself in his cocoon of misery. On the other hand, Mr. Lamb's deformity of having a tin leg made him develop a positive attitude. Unlike Derry, he works hard to rise against all adversities, he has learned to walk and climb ladders, he make friends with everyone and lives in a house with no curtains and open doors, welcoming one and all who come his way.Although he is ridiculed by callous children as 'Lamey Lamb' he takes his deformity as a challenge because he believes that human beauty lies in inner strength rather than outward appearance.
