Features of popular mass struggle for restoring democracy in Nepal:-
1) The movement started by all the major political parties forming a Seven Party Alliance (SPA). It was aimed at regaining popular control over the government from the King and restoring democracy.
2) It was started with a four day strike in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. This protest soon turned into an indefinite strike in which Maoists insurgents and various other organisations joined together.
3) On 21st April 2006, they served an ultimatum to the King. They stuck to their demand for restoration of Parliament, power to an all party government and a new constituent assembly.
4) On 24th April 2006, the last day of the ultimatum, the King was forced to concede all the demands.
5) The Seven Party Alliance chose Girija Prasad Koirala as the new Prime Minister of the interim government. The restored Parliament met and passed laws taking away most of the powers of the King.
6) The Seven Party Alliance and Maoists came to an understanding about how the new Constituent Assembly was going to be elected. This mass struggle came is popularly known as Nepal's second movement for democracy.

In a democratic government the major decisions are taken by the leaders who are elected by the people of that country. These elected leaders represent the whole country so in this way the need of all people are satisfied.

b) Free and Fair Electoral Competition :

A democracy is based on a free and fair election where does currently in power have a fair chance of losing.

c) One Person, One Vote , One Value :

In a democratic country each and every adult is provided a single word which is having equal value. It means each what must have one value then that of other.

d) Rule of Law and Respect of Rights :

In democracy a country can be rule only within limits set by constitutional law and citizens' rights.
