#1•Social Cause

The British followed the policy of racial descrimination. Indians were denied high-ranking jobs and promotions.

#2•Religious Cause

The attempts of Christian missionaries to convert people to Christianity induced fear among some sections of Indians.

The various land revenue policies introduced by the British made the lives of peasants miserable. The British even confiscated lands of old zamindars especially in Awadh.

#4•Military Cause
