Describe about the cell organelles, their structure and their functions
Answers
Answer:
Cell organelles are living parts of the cell which perform the metabolic functions of the cell for the body.
some of the organelles and their functions:
Mitochondria:
A spherical, rod-shaped or thread like body. These are minute double-walled bags with their inner walls produced into finger-like processes projecting inwards (cristae).
- cellular respiration
- production of energy for cell
- known as "powerhouse of the cell"
Endoplasmic reticulum:
it is an irregular network of double membranes distributed over the entire cytoplasm in a cell.
- support and framework for the cell
- synthesis and transport of proteins and fats
Golgi Apparatus:
This organelle occurs in forms of granules, filaments or rods which are supposed to originate from the endoplasmic reticulum.
- synthesis and secretion of enzymes and hormones
Ribososmes:
These are numerous small sized granules either scattered freely in the cytoplasm or attached to the E.R.
- Protein synthesis
Lysosomes:
Lysosomes are small vesicles of different shapes containing digestive enzymes
- Intracellular digestion
- Destroy foreign substances
- Destroy damaged or weak organelles
