Describe all the types of asexual reproduction.
Answers
The production of new organism from a single parent without the involvement of sex cells is called asexual reproduction.
There are six different types of asexual reproduction-
1. Fission
2. Budding
3. Spore formation
4. Regeneration
5. Fragmentation
6. Vegetative propagation.
The type of asexual reproduction in which a unicellular organism divides to form two or more new organisms,is called fission.
There are two types of fission :-
1. Binary fission - In binary fission, the parent organism splits to form two new organisms.
2. Multiple fission - In multiple fission, the parent organism splits to form many new organisms at the same time.
The type of asexual reproduction in which, a small part of the body of the parent organism grows out as a 'bud' which then detaches and become a new organism is called budding.
the parent plant produced hundreds of microscopic reproductive units called 'spores' is called spore formation.
The process of getting back a full organism from its body parts is called regeneration.
The breaking up of the body of a simple multicellular organism into two (or more) , each of which subsequently grows to form a complete new organism is called fragmentation.
In vegetative propagation, new plants are obtained from the parts of old plants (like stems, roots and leaves) without the help of any reproductive organs.
Explanation:
There are a number of types of asexual reproduction including fission, fragmentation, budding, vegetativereproduction, spore formation and agamogenesis. Spore formation occurs in plants, and some algae and fungi, and will be discussed in additional concepts. Binary Fission in various single-celled organisms (left).
