When tea is hot we often put it in a saucer due to which it cools down faster. Putting tea from a cup into a saucer is an example of increasing surface area, which increases evaporation and since evaporation causes cooling the tea cools down.

Activity

  • take two wet cloths
  • now hang them to dry bt spread only one cloth
  • u would notice that the cloth that was spread will dry faster as compared to another this is because it has larger surface area then the other.
  • this shows that increase in surface area increases the rate of evapiration
