Experiment to show magnetic field lines around a straight current carrying conductor.
Take a electric circuit made up of copper wire consisting of battery, key, a ammeter and a rheostat.
Then fix a piece of rough sheet through the wire and pass the current.
Then sprinkle the iron fillings on the sheet.
Then give a soft touch on the sheet.
You will observe that the iron fillings arrange themselves in the form of concentric circles.
The direction of magnetic field can be found out by right hand thumb rule.
