Burn the magnesium ribbon in presence of oxygen .

Steps:-

1. Take a Magnesium ribbon.

2. Rub it with a sand paper to remove the layer if magnesium oxide from it.

3. Burn it on a burner in the presence of air(oxygen).

4. You will get a white coloured powder(you may also call its ash).

5. This white coloured powder is Magnesium Oxide which is product of the reaction.
