then cover the mouth of cup completely with a flat hard card board .using your hand to keep it in a place , turn the cup upside down .when you remove the hand the card board stay in place.

one would expect that due to gravity the water will fall, and even the card board will. however it does not which means that ,some thing must be applied an upward force on card board.this is nothing other than a air pressure.which apply a force across the surface of the cardboard in an upward direction.

thus we can demonstrated that air exert pressure in all direction.
