describe an outing with your parents

Answer:
One Thursday, Mum suddenly suggested that we go for a family outing. Both Amy and I looked at Dad and her expectantly. We shouted for joy when Dad agreed. They probably felt guilty about having neglected us for so long. With the help of our maid, we prepared for a day out. We filled our picnic basket with fried chicken wings, a big vanilla-almond cake, egg and tuna sandwiches and packets of drinks. With the car loaded with the food, swimming gear, games sets and equipment, beach mats, suntan lotion and my automatic camera, we were off to the beach.
On our arrival, we had trouble finding a suitable area for our picnic spot, as other beach enthusiasts had beaten us to it. We finally decided to squeeze between two parties who looked at us with dismay. When we had settled down and changed into our swimming gear, Dad’s pager went off. I had a feeling that it would happen sooner or later. Why did he have to bring it along?
Dad had to rush off for an emergency operation. He promised to be back soon. Mum refused to let us swim in the sea without Dad’s supervision. So there we were at the beach on a glorious day, with nothing to do. Mum tried to make up for our disappointment by playing beach games with us. However, she soon felt tired and went back to rest under the shade of the trees.
Fortunately, Dad kept this promise and returned. We then swam in the sea with him. Later in the day, we hired a small sailing boat and went boating in the calm sea. Amy and I leant to steer the boat and handle the sails.
However, the day soon ended. We were both very tired after the day’s activities which were indeed enjoyable. My parents too had so much fun that they decided to stay away from their work during the weekends and spend more time with us.
