Iron age is the developed age in the speciation of Prehistory (in the age of beginning of hominids). Following is the related points.
1. The beginning point of the Iron Age is the invention of fire. It lead to the use of iron materials by shaping them with fire.
2. The early humans had discovered the advantages of the metals. But the iron (Fe) was the common metal found by them, although coper (Cu) was the first metal discovered. So it was termed as Iron Age.
3. It was begun after the Chalcolithic Age.
4. Their dominant weapons, tools and agricultural wares were made by iron.
5. The Iron Age began at 1200 B. C.
6. The Hittites -- who lived at present-age Turkey -- were the first to convert iron into their useful products.
