(1) Louis XVI was a weak administrator. He wanted to impose additional taxes because of the drained financial resources. Long years of war had drained the financial resources. Also because Louis XVI had helped 13 American colonies to get freedom from Britain.

(2) another causes division of the society. The society was divided into three estates where the first and second estate included clergy and nobility respectively. The third estate consisted of businessmen, merchant, Court officials, peasants, artisans, landless labourers and servants.

(3) also as the population grew, the prices had to be increased. Hence the prices of the bread was increased which turned to be a social cause for the outbreak of French Revolution.

(4) The Two States enjoyed a number of privileges. The Two States did not have to pay taxes while the third estate had to pay direct tax (Tithes), Taille ( collected by the church), and some indirect taxes on articles like tobacco, salt, etc.

(5) an immediate cause for the outbreak of French Revolution was the gathering in tennis court where the declared themselves national assembly and drafted a constitution for France that will limit the powers of Monarch.
