One main demerit of the Green Revolution is that it was able to increase the production of major food crops like wheat and rice while not touching commercial crops like cotton, tea etc.

Also, Green Revolution has been successful only in some states of Punjab, Haryana, Tamil Nadu etc. and not touched eastern region and semi-arid region of west.

Green Revolution has led to unemployment in many states except Punjab for agricultural laborers.
