Drama is a traditional folk medium that is widely practiced in all parts of India and known by different names, as per the languages used in those regions.

Folk drama is termed as Jatra in the eastern and northeastern parts of India; whereas it is called Nautanki in the North Indian states and in Karnataka, folk drama is called Yakshagana.

Puppetry is another popular traditional medium practiced in India and based on the plays exhibited by handmade puppets.
