Describe biological importance of Na⁺ and K⁺ ions.

Sodium and potassium, both are mainly found in cells.

Sodium helps to maintain the water flow in the membrane and also helps in transportation of sugar and amino acids in the body.

Potassium helps in heart function, muscle contraction and skeleton. People with low level of potassium suffer from hypertension.
