when Bismillah Khan was only 5 years old he earn in laddu in 1.25 kg 4 singing Bhojpuri chaita at Bihari ji temple . then he shifted to Banaras and his uncle Ali bux taught him to play shehnai. he improved and invented many raagas.

at the age of 14 he accompanied his uncle to the Allahabad conference. in 1939 he played shehnai on all India radio. he had the honour of greeting the nation with his shehnai vandan on 15 August 1947. after it he visited and go to tour in foreign countries all over the world. he was honoured everywhere. he was conferred many national awards. in 2001 he was awarded the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna for his art.
