Regional variations are broadly dependent on three thongs:
1. TEMPERATURE: During summers, places in Rajasthan experience temperatures as high as 50`C whereas in Jammu and Kashmir it is only 20`C
2. AMOUNT OF PRECIPITATION AND TYPE: Precipitation varies from place to place. In northern parts of India Frost is usually experienced, in Himalayan regions, usually precipitation is in the form of snow and in the rest of India precipitation is in the form of rainfall Rainfall is more than 400 cm in Windward slopes of western ghats and north eastern India. In rajasthan and gujarat rainfall is less than 10cm
3. SEASON: Bulk of india gets rainfall in the months July-September whereas Tamil Nadu receives rainfall in winter months under the influence of north east winds
