Griffins funds had exhausted . He did not have any money to pay for his boarding and lodging . Mrs hall had ask him to vacate the room if he could not pay the rent. This made him desperate to get money so he decided to rob Mr bunting , the Vicar's house. He loved the house early in the morning. The vicars wife was suddenly awoken by footsteps. She wakens her husband , the vicar . The vicar armed with a poker goes in for search of the thief but is rewarded with complete silence instead . They heard the clink of money but could not see anyone. Suddenly they heard a sneeze. When the vicar ran towards the direction of the nose, he heard the kitchen door open but could not see anything.
