Common modes of asexual reproduction in plants:
Asexual reproduction is mode of reproduction mainly seen in plants and lower organisms that don’t include the formation or fusion of gametes and formation of seeds. This reproduction is present because of its very quick success, maintenance of the parental characteristics, etc.
This mode of reproduction is carried out by means of various methods like –
- Budding – formation of buds like in yeast which is often considered as plant.
- Fragmentation – fragmentation of body as in Spirogyra, etc.
- Axillary buds in leaves, roots, etc – these axillary buds can give rise to new plants.
