Corporal Turnbull had come to deliver a lecture on the hand grandee. He was a hero figure for the whole platoon. Corporal Turnbull was a tough and rugged man. Though young, “he was not a man to be trifled with”. He was different from Sergeant as he did not tolerate Quelch's interruption and his boastful nature.
