Answer:Akbar was the first among the Mughal emperors who planned to conquer the Deccan after completing his conquest in the North. His primary Objective in conquering the Deccan was extention of the empire. Besides, Akbar was not happy with the Portuguese who were becoming powerful in the sea coast of India.

- Having consolidated his empire in north India,Akbar sent his officials to persuade the rulers of Ahmednagar,Bijapur and Golconda to accept him as their ruler.
- But they refused .
- Akhbar then waged a war against Chand Bibi,the queen of Ahmednagar.
- She gave in after a brave resistance and parts of Ahmednagar were annexed.
- In AD 1596,Berar was annexed.
- In AD 1601,Khandesh was also annexed to the empire.
- Akbar's empire now stretched from Hindkush in the north-west to Brahmaputra in the east and from the Himalayas in the north to Godavari in the south .
- Last year of his reign witnessed rebellion by his son and successor,Prince Salim (Jahangir)
