1.SIMPLE LIPIDS:

-Simple lipids consists of esters of fatty  acids with http://glycerol.Eg:Oils and fats.

-Oils are liquids at 20 degree Celsius and fats are solids at 20 degree Celsius.(all triglycerides).

-Fatty acids are divided into two types-Saturated and Unsaturated fatty acids.

-Saturated fatty acids such as Lauric,palmitic and Stearic acids.

-Unsaturated fatty acids such as Oleic acid,Linoeic acid ,Etc

2.COMPOUND LIPIDS:

-The compound lipids consists of Phospholipids.

-The Phospholipids are Lecithin,cephalin,Plasmalogens,etc.

-The important phospholipids present in animal and human tissues like in nervous tissues.

3.DERIVED LIPIDS:

-Derived lipids consists of Sterols.Sterols are classified as follows

1.Animal sterols eg:Cholesterol.(It is seen in all animals and human tissues)

2.Plant sterols eg:Phytosterols and

3.Mycosterols eg:Ergosterol.
