In a couple if male is RH positive and female is RH negative then she may conceive RH positive or negative foetus.

If she conceive RH positive foetus then this pregnancy continue safely and the foetus is delivered out.

However, at the time of delivery some fetal RBC May leak into mother's body who then develops anti RH antibodies.

These antibodies cause damage to the foetus RBC of subsequent pregnancy if she conceived RH positive foetus again.

This disease is called erythroblastosis Fetalis or hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN)

to prevent this disease all RH negative females are injected anti RH antibodies within 24 hours of delivery.
