Getting Caught in a Traffic Jam
Getting snarled up in a traffic jam is a commonplace affair on Indian roads. I often have to put up with it. However, the most annoying experience was when I got caught up in it for hours.
I clearly remember the day. It was a weekend; I had planned with my family to go to Kasauli. We were very excited about the trip. We had envisaged enjoying the fresh cool, breeze and having lots of fun at the heavenly hill station. However, as we crossed Panchkula and neared towards Kalka, we were engulfed in a sea of traffic. The cars remained stuck for hours; there was no movement literally.
The sun overhead was blazing. With thousands of car engines spewing smoke all around, we felt as if we were in hot hell. We had no choice but to keep sitting inside the car with the air-condition on, which failed miserably to keep the temperature down as the sun rays were entering the car through the windscreen.
After a couple of hours the traffic cleared and we heaved a sigh of relief. Soon, we reached our destination and forgot the misery of being caught up in the traffic jam.
