Nitrogen gas is found in atmosphere about 78% . But the plants can't take that atmospheric form of nitrogen,so there is a saprophytic nutrition in leguminous plants like peas,gram etc.
Explanation:
There is a nitrogen fixing bacteria in the root nodules of leguminous plants called Rhizobium which converts atmospheric nitrogen into its soluble form so that plants can easily take it.There are five stages in nitrogen cycle.first is nitrogen fixation second is nitrogen assimilation third is ammonification fourth is Nitrification and fifth last one is Denitrification.
