The King of Luggnagg offered a job to Gulliver. But Gulliver wished to go home. So the king gave him a generous gift of gold and a letter of recommendation. Gulliver took all this and went to Japan. The letter of recommendation helped him to meet the emperor of Japan.

On the 6th of May, 1709,Gulliver took leave of the Luggnaggnain king and all his friends. This prince ordered a guard to conduct him to Glanguenstald, which was a royal port to the south- west part of the island. In six days he found a ship ready to carry him to Japan, and spent fifteen days in the voyage. He first landed at a small port-town called Xamoschi, situated on the south-east part of Japan; near Yedo, the metropolis. At landing, Gulliver showed the custom-house officer his letter from the king of Luggnagg to his imperial majesty. They knew the seal perfectly well; it was as broad as the palm of hand showing a king lifting up a lame beggar from the earth. The magistrates of the town, hearing of the letter, received Gulliver as a public minister. They provided him with carriages and servants, and bore his charges to Yedo; where he was admitted to an audience, and delivered his letter, which was opened with great ceremony, and explained to the Emperor by an interpreter, who then gave Gulliver notice, by his majesty’s order that whatever Gulliver wanted should be granted
