- HSK pathway is the "Hatch S Pathway" which is the pathway of reactions taking place in C4 plants.
- Here, the first substance in which the carbon dioxide reacts is the PEP or the Phosphoenol pyruvate.
- The substance produced is the oxaloacetic acid. This enzyme that is required here is the oxaloacetate synthase.
- The pathway is somewhat different from the normal photosynthesis where the photo respiration is overcome as unlike RuBisCO, there isn’t any tendency to react with oxygen.
