◆ Launching of 2-stage rocket -

Usually a rocket is launched with 2-stage mechanism.

1) In 1st stage, rocket attains vertical velocity and goes upward resisting against earths gravitation.

2) In 2nd stage, the rocket turns perpendicularly and attains horizontal velocity such that it revolves around the earth without falling down.

◆ Possible orbits of earth satellite -

1) Low earth orbits -

- Satellite revolves around the earth at height of 180 km to 2000 km.

- Used for weather prediction, military purposes.

2) Middle earth orbits -

- Satellite revolves around the earth at height of 2000 km to 3600 km.

- Used for navigation purposes.

3) Geostationary orbits -

- Satellite revolves around the earth at height of 3600 km.

- Used for communication, TV signals.
