When sunlight falls on a plant, the auxin secretion is evenly distributed on all parts of the plant. When sunlight falls particularly on one side, say right, the auxin secretion will be more on the shady side (left). This creates a difference in secretion of auxin on both the sides and this results in bending of shoot (right side) towards sunlight..

Auxin is plant hormone it promotes in unidirectional growth and root growth in plant .Auxin synthesised at shoot tip it helps the cells to grow longer .When light is coming from one side of plant ,auxin diffuses towards the shady side of the shoot .This concentration of auxin stimulates the cell to grow longer on the side of the shoot which is away from light. Thus, plant appears to bend towards light
