The heart is a muscular organ located between the lungs . An adult's heart measures 12 cm in length and 9 cm in breadth , and weighs about 300 g. The main function of the heart is to pump blood to various organs of the body through its four chambers. The two upper chambers of heart are called the right auricle and left auricle, and the Two lower chambers are called the right ventricle and the left ventricle. The heart pumps two type of blood - Oxygenated blood and Deoxygenated blood. The left side of the heart pumps oxygenated blood and the right side of the heart pumps Deoxygenated blood. CIRCULATION (of blood)- Oxygenated blood from the lungs enters into the left side and is transported through various parts of the body. Deoxygenated blood enters the right side of the heart and is send to the lungs for its purification (and the entire cycle of circulation repeats again )
