In 1964 Marshall McLuhan propounded the concept of a global village and explained its social effects. He talked about a single world which is interconnected by an electronic nervous system.
According to him the world has shrunk because of the modern communication system. Everyone in the world is linked together by the communication network. Instantaneous sharing of culture has become possible due to technological advances. So there has been an expansion of the world's culture. In this way the world has become a global village.
