The normal mail services of post offices include post cards, inland letter card, envelope, parcel post and book post. The post cards, inland letters and envelopes are generally used for writing letters.

Parcel post is used for sending different materials by post and book post is used for sending only books, greeting cards or periodicals.

Post restante is a specialised postal service where the sender can post letter even without knowing proper postal address of the receiver, by only mentioning the post office.

Speed post, registered post, insured post and certificate of posting are other specialised services.
