• Warehousing is a very important function of commerce.

Types of warehouses:

Warehouses may broadly be divided into three kinds, viz

1. Public Warehouses

2. Wholesaler or Private Warehouses and  

3. Bonded Warehouses.,

• Public warehouses do not belong to any particular trader but are used by all types of merchants and importers etc.
• 'Private warehouses' are owned by the manufacturers to stock the goods manufactured by them till they are sold.
• Bonded warehouses are the warehouses constructed under a bond with the government.
