Describe main focus or focus of spherical mirrors?
Ans.
Parallel to the main axis of spherical mirror, point where light meets (Concave mirror) or appears to be meet (Convex mirror) is called focus of spherical mirror. It is represented by letter F.

Concave mirror:

  • The main focus/principal focus defines the point where the rays which are parallel to principal axis converge after reflected from concave mirror.
  • This point is in front of concave mirror.

Convex mirror:

  • The main focus/principal focus defines the point where the rays which are parallel to principal axis appears to converge after reflected from convex mirror.
  • This point is in behind convex mirror.
