→→The main causes of French revolution are as follows:
1. Social
The three estates of the society were not treated equally. The first two estates namely the clergy and the nobles were given several privileges as well as they were exempted from giving any kind of taxes. The third estate were forced to pay high taxes in order to fulfill the taxes not given by the first two estates.
2. Political
King Loise XVII and Marie Antoinette led a luxurious life with all comforts and did not care for the administration. This further led to a corrupt administration, which was disliked by the common people. Hence, they wanted a change in such a corrupt and unfair administration.
3. Financial Problems
France had already suffered great losses due to its involvement in useless wars. Adding to this, due to bad harvest of grains, the prices rose up. The third estates namely the commoners were not able to afford it and hence they revolted.
4. Philosophers
Many philosophers like John Locke , Rousseau and Montesquieau gave ideas for the betterment of the French society and their revolutionary ideas grew quite popular among the common mass. These ideas initiated them to revolt for a new and better society.
